Music Mondays: Deep Dickollective

Deep Dickollective

Welcome to another Music  Monday!

Deep Dickollective is a black queer hip-hop group based out of Oakland, CA.

Their songs are reminiscent of 1980s hip-hop which seems to call back to the genre’s political roots.  Self-described as PostPomoHomo (a term that stems from the theatrical group PostAfroHomos), Deep Dickollective provides commentary on the intersections of ‘race’ and sexuality. They also use their music to provide a voice for the experiences of black queers as well as historicize black queers.

Check out their myspace page to hear some of their songs such as ButchQueen and For Colored Boys. You can also listen to it on  Youtube.

Over and Out,
Charlie
