Yesterday, January 29th, marked our first episode of Gender Bender in our new longer, stronger full hour time slot. That’s right SweetPeas. Gender Bender is now one full hour of delicious indulgence in all things fun and fabulously queer from 8 to 9pm on CFRC 101.9FM.
Did we bite off more than we could chew? I ask myself that same question. But I know we’ll do okay. If this first episode has anything to show, we are pretty resilient and crafty people. We even decided to do our first one hour episode live on location at Ellis Hall on Queen’s University campus to share a little of what it’s like to go to a ReelOut screening. One of the highlights that I take back with me is the fun and moving interview Jessy and I did with Helen Kennedy and Jane Walsh on Thursday, January 28th. We aired it on our program, so take a listen. Helen Kennedy is the Executive Director of EGALE which is the legal body that has pretty much won through our Canadian legal system many of the rights all queer people have today. Jane Walsh is a member of the Ontario CUPE Pink Triangle Committee and I’m happy to know our national and provincial unions are still fighting the good fight. Keep it coming! Oh, so exciting!
